Since water is the source of life and human urbanization , the Arabian Peninsula has been deprived, of the existence of life arteries in its territory, represented in rivers, that set the pillars of civilization, and stability of humans, thus, its inhabitants knew the life of peregrination, seeking water and feeding, since the dawn of history.

     The drought that the Arabian Peninsula was subject to in its ancient times may have been the cause of the desertification that we see now, as geologists believe that the dehydration factor has descended what on the land of the Arabian Peninsula, of rivers into immemorial depths, to be the permanent reservoir, for Springs and underground springs being processed now in our territory, from which for example Fatema Valley and Khulais Valley.

     The geographic location of the city of Jeddah, played a prominent role in depriving it of rainwater, as Jeddah is located on a natural gap, that penetrates the coral reef, that extends along the eastern coast of the Red Sea, in the west of the Arabian Peninsula, in an area that was once a path of deep valleys, which cut the Arabian Peninsula from east to west, some remains of these valleys still exist until now, however, the spread of urbanization led to the obliteration of most of the streams of these valleys, but they appear clear when rain falls as it becomes gathering places for water.

     It should be mentioned that urbanization is located in a region where the rain is rare, and it is the area of (Bani Malek pool), also the soil layers that form its lands is devoid of water, except in Bani Malek valley, where the opportunity is ready to contain limited amounts of water, as Spring as in the limited valleys in the area of the slopes east of the city, in addition, the quality of underground water under the city of Jeddah is not suitable for drinking or irrigation because of its high salinity due to its proximity to the Red Sea.
